Sawdust Amendment in Agricultural and Pasture Soils Can Reduce Iodine Losses

نویسندگان

چکیده

Iodine loss is common in the soil of hilly regions due to higher precipitation rates and steeper slopes. deficiency reduces iodine’s bioavailability fruits vegetables consequently may contribute health complications. However, iodine retention soils after addition selected organic inorganic amendments has not been studied. Therefore, a study was carried out investigate during surface runoff. For this purpose, amendment (namely, sawdust, charcoal, wood ash, lime or gypsum) applied separately pasture agricultural under natural rainfall conditions. The fertigated with form potassium iodide (KI) at rate 200 ppm. Surface runoff related properties. Results showed that content linearly pH (R2 = 0.89, p < 0.05) inversely carbon ?0.76, 0.05). Soils amended sawdust had significantly reduced A amount lost via from amendment. Soil were varied for order > charcoal ash gypsum. results indicated amendments, especially improved properties increased capacity soils.

Evaluation of Poultry Litter Amendment to Agricultural Soils: Leaching Losses and Partitioning of Trace Elements in Collard Greens

Leaching of trace metals and greenhouse plant growth (Collard greens; Brassica oleracea var. acephala) response studies were conducted in two types of soils with contrasting characteristics amended with varying rates (0 to 24.70 Mg ha) of poultry litter (PL) or 1:1 mixture of PL and fly ash (FA). Leaching of Cr, Zn, Cd, Cu, and Pb from soils amended with PL or PL + FA (1:1) increased with incre...

Biological responses of agricultural soils to fly-ash amendment.

The volume of solid waste produced in the world is increasing annually, and disposing of such wastes is a growing problem. Fly ash (FA) is a form of solid waste that is derived from the combustion of coal. Research has shown that fly ash may be disposed of by using it to amend agricultural soils. This review addresses the feasibility of amending agricultural field soils with fly ash for the pur...

Can Watercourse Groups Reduce Nutrient Losses?

Nutrient losses from agricultural land constitute an important part of the total flow of nutrient to lakes and seas in Sweden and the Baltic region. With the EU Directive on water, to be implemented shortly throughout Europe, the expectations on what can be achieved through the decentralisation of various responsibilities from authorities to groups in the civil society is increasing. An importa...

Low occurrence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in agricultural soils with and without organic amendment

The occurrence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa was monitored at a broad spatial scale in French agricultural soils, from various soil types and under various land uses to evaluate the ability of soil to be a natural habitat for that species. To appreciate the impact of agricultural practices on the potential dispersion of P. aeruginosa, we further investigated the impact of organic amendment at exper...
